Craft: Make it Yourself Play Dough

Craft: Make your own Play DoughThis recipe for Play Dough is fun and easy to make. Depending on the age of your child they might be able to help you measure and mix the ingredients. In the past I have used Kool-Aid to color the dough, not only does Kool-Aid give the play dough a rich color it makes it smell good too!

Playing with play dough stimulates your child's imagination.

What you need:

1 cup flour
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 package of unsweetened Kool-Aid
1 tablespoon oil

What you do:

1. Mix all the ingredients in a pot.

2. Cook and stir mixture over medium heat for 3-5 minutes.

3. Your mixture will look like a big globby mess. Don't worry.

4. When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot put it on a lightly floured surface and knead.

5. Be careful not to burn your hands. The mixture will be hot from cooking. You might want to let the dough cool before kneading it.

6. Store your play dough in an airtight container or bag.
